Rain: A Bride’s Biggest Fear
When planning your dream wedding, the biggest fear in a bride’s mind leading up to the big day is, “What is the weather going to be like?” or more so, “Please don’t let it rain.” I know that fear is still constantly on my mind, but I’m convinced it’s going to rain, so I’m just setting on that right now haha! This past year I not only photographed one hurricane wedding, but I photographed two, and you know what? They were both some of the most beautiful and fun filled weddings I have photographed! The only issue with this hurricane wedding was that I couldn’t leave the Half Moone Wedding Venue… I was flooded in.
Flooded In at the Half Moone Wedding Venue
If you know Norfolk, Virginia, you know that when hurricanes come, you better prepare because Norfolk is one of the first cities to flood, so when it came time to leave, it was quite the scary adventure trying to head back home. Not only was it dark, but it was windy and raining cats and dogs. Every turn I made the road was flooded and cars who dared try to make it through the water were stuck… I was left with no where to turn, and not knowing the area that well, all I could do was head back to the venue. My options were limited, but luckily Audrey, from Audrey Rose Photography, was able to let me stay at her house!
One Calm Bride
Other then that scary adventure, Kelly and Paul’s wedding day was absolutely perfect, and Kelly, oh my goodness, she was as calm and happy as could be. The rain and wind would have made me so nervous and worried, but she never said a word about it. She wasn’t going to let the weather ruin her day. Both Kelly and Paul fully embraced the weather and had the best day of their lives.
I hope you all love these wedding images as much as I do! Being able to second shoot with Audrey this past year was an absolute dream, and I have learned SO much from this experience. Now, I can confidently say that I have photographed two hurricane weddings, and also give my future brides confidence that they will receive images that they are going to absolutely love: rain or shine!
