It’s Wedding Wednesday, and time for Bridesmaids Part Two: What dresses do you pick for your bridesmaids!? This is a pretty important decision in your planning, and there are a few things you need to consider before choosing the dress for your besties.
I do want to emphasize that these are my opinions. Thoughts that have been going on in my mind while I have been planning. I never want anyone to think that I am the knower of everything wedding because I am not in any way!! If these thoughts are helpful or help you think outside the box, then that’s what my blog is for!!
So let’s continue!
1. Color
This is the biggest factor in choosing your bridesmaids dresses. What is the color palette for your wedding? If you haven’t picked a color palette yet, that would be a good place to start. Take into consideration the time of year (fall, spring, summer, winter) and what colors you personally love. If you have a Pinterest board, you probably already have a good idea of what you want, but now you need to find the particular dress or narrow it down to one color or color scheme.
A new thing “to do”, has been to put bridesmaids in different colors. You can have your bridesmaids in the same color, same color palette, or completely different all together!
Here are a few examples of what I am talking about:

2. Style
Throughout the years, the style of bridesmaids dresses has changed. Bridesmaids are no longer wearing the same dress with the same color. Now, this give brides more options. When it comes to style of dress you have to consider these things: length and your bridesmaids. Length is simple, do want them to be long or short? (Definitely consider what time of year you are having your wedding!) Easy peasy! Now, what will look good on all of the bridesmaids? You need to consider what will look flattering on all of your bridesmaids. You want to make sure that they will be comfortable and feel great on your big day!
Yes, you get the final say on the dress and you can’t make everyone happy, but you don’t want them to feel self concious or uncomfortable in any way. In every step of my planning, I result to this question, “How will the picture look?” Yes, it’s most definitely because I am a wedding photographer, but those images are one of the few things you will be able to cherish after your wedding day. I want those photos to look amazing. If my bridesmaids are uncomfortable in their dresses, it will definitely show in the images. For me, that can’t happen haha.
3. Your Wedding Dress
At the end of the day, make sure you are the one that shines. I personally wouldn’t choose dresses that outdo or look similar to your dress. It’s your day; make sure you stand out.
4. Price
Being a bridesmaid is not a cheap ordeal. They have to pay for many different things: bridesmaid dress, shoes, jewelry, hair and makeup, gas, hotel, bacherolette fun, bridal gift, ect. It’s a lot. I know bridesmaid dresses do not come cheap. They just don’t, but if you can find dresses in a reasonable range or on sale, go for it!! Your bridesmaids love you and want to make sure you get exactly what you want, but definitely think about them when you are making a decision on their bridesmaid dresses!
I love that weddings have gotten out of the one way fits all mode, and brides have made their weddings more into what they love and their style. It makes for amazing, unique, and personal weddings!!
There you have it; my tips and ideas on bridesmaids dresses! I’m a very bad decision maker, so if I can make a decision on a dress so can you!! Trust your gut, look for sales, and just know your day is going to be stunning!!
