Last week, the entire state of Virginia got a little bit or a lot of snow from Blizzard Jonas. In our case, in Northern Virginia, we got way more than I ever imaged… 3 ft, over half my height!! How crazy is that? We were snowed in from Saturday until Wednesday, and the only thing that was on my to do list was to take beautiful, snowy portraits. That is all I wanted! What I didn’t realize was that it takes a lot of time for snow to harden, so you can walk on it and not completely sink. Great workout, I might add, but not what I was looking for for my portraits. So I waited and waited and waited… it took five days to finally be okay to stand on! Lucky for me though, that when it became perfect time to do portraits the roads were finally okay to drive, so I got my first couple, Gabby and Tommy!
When I first started dating MJ, I was pretty nervous because we were doing long distance and he is a teacher. A boy elementary school teacher. Meaning he worked with pretty, cute girl elementary school teachers. Once I met all of his cute, pretty elementary school teacher friends, including Gabby, I got even more nervous because they were awesome. They were nice, beautiful, funny, and just great people to be around. Great (haha). Gabby was off the market too though because she had Tommy! I don’t know if you could find a better match than Gabby and Tommy. They have been married for 8 months now, and have been in each others lives for years. They share a love that is so caring and thoughtful and kind. Their love makes me smile, and I cannot wait to see what fun adventures their life brings them. I was so happy to be able to document this part of their lives!
I had been scouting out the perfect place to take my snowy portraits for days, and it definitely wasn’t the easiest location to get to, but I’m glad Gabby and Tommy were up for the adventure! We climbed up the snowy mountain, and, man, it is hard to take pictures in the snow. Trying to walk is dangerous and finding the perfect spot isn’t easy either! We ended up getting some amazing images though, and I am so excited to share them with you!
