Where do I even begin? Seriously. I’ve been staring at this screen for what seems like hours. When you are surrounded by incredible people in an amazing place celebrating the marriage of two people who deserve the world, I think you would be at a loss for words as well. Let me start off from the beginning!
Matt and Jane met at JMU, and here is the condensed version of how they met: Matt met MJ, Matt and MJ met Emily, Emily introduced Matt to Jane, and the rest is history! (There were a few more details in between there, but you get the gist!) These two have been together for 5 years and have been planning their wedding day for over 2 years!
At first they didn’t think having their wedding in Ireland could possibly become a reality, but after some thought and research, they made it happen! So, you might be asking, why Ireland? Well, do you have a tissue handy?
Jane’s mom is Irish and her dad is English, and 31 years ago they got married in Adare, Ireland. So Matt and Jane wanted to get married at the same place… Yep, same city, same church, same hotel for the reception.
Now, let’s talk about the weather for a second. When everyone thinks of Ireland, they think of rain, and rightfully so. Weirdly enough, when we arrived, we were told by the locals that Ireland had been in a drought. No rain in sight, and we didn’t see a drop of rain until July 26th- their wedding day!
After they said their “I do’s” and thanked all their guests for coming, it began to rain. The rain Ireland needed and wanted had finally come. And honestly? I think it made their wedding day even more special. (Like in a Cinderella Story- they were in a drought, but when Chad Michael Murray finally realizes Hillary Duff is the one, the rain starts!)
It’s been told that rain means good luck on your wedding day, right? But do you know why!? Well, on your wedding day, you are tying the knot, and when a knot gets wet it becomes even harder to loosen.
SO GOOD. I now have a new found love for rain on a wedding day!
Other then the rain, their wedding day was such a joy and filled with so many laughs, tears, and dancing (the DJ didn’t leave until 2 AM)! One of my favorite parts of their day was listening to Jane’s dad’s speech… I cried. It was the best speech I have ever heard.
He started it by thanking all 120 guests for attending Matt and Jane’s wedding day and telling us where everyone had traveled from- USA, England, Scotland, Portugal, Africa (Hanahan) etc. He then continued to talk about his marriage to his wife- this is where I lost it. He talked about their love story, their wedding day, and all the planning that she did to make her daughter’s wedding day a reality! She got a standing ovation! He finished the speech by having a family member read a beautiful Gaelic poem (she speaks Gaelic)!
Matt and Jane both come from families that love each other so much! It was such a honor to be in their presence and an even greater honor to be the ones capturing their memories!!
This post is already way too long, but Matt and Jane, thank you so much for being a part of MJ and I’s life. Thank you for asking both of us to be a part of your special day. We wouldn’t have been anywhere else! We love you both and can’t wait to see more pictures from your honeymoon in Ireland! Enjoy reliving your wonderful wedding day!
xoxo
