It’s Hump Day, friends, and thank goodness for that!! Only a few more days until the weekend!! Wahoo, but anyway welcome back to my new series, Wedding Wednesday! Last week, I talked about how you just need to take one deep breath and enjoy the fact that you are engaged to the love of your life!! (Do that right now haha!) This next step is one of the biggest steps of your wedding planning, and that is setting up your wedding budget checklist.

Budgets. This is something I tried to stay away from because talking about money is always awkward, but in order for MJ and I to start building our dream wedding we had to figure out how much money we had to work with. This can go many ways… If you have people other than you and your fiancé that are willing to help you pay for your wedding, that is very helpful and such a blessing! In other cases though, you might have to rely on what the two of you can save and pay for, and that is totally okay as well! Figuring this information out though is crucial!

Most every woman out there has a Pinterest, and it’s a curse and a blessing. Pinterest gives us ideas and DIY projects and different sites to go to to help us brides to be, but Pinterest also gives us these false hopes and ideas that big glamorous weddings are the only way to go, and that is totally not true! I keep thinking of all these ideas that I see online, and I want to do them all but each idea has a cost… Womp.

After you get an idea of how much money you have to work with you need to figure out which aspects of your wedding are the most important to you and your fiance. For me, it’s venue and photography, duh, and you do need to keep in mind catering is just going to cost a good amount. It just is.

If you skipped the scary long paragraphs, and are looking for the bullet points that sum it all up… Here ya go!

  1. Get an exact idea of how much money you have to work with, whether that being money you have to save or money that is so graciously given to you by others!
  2. Figure out what aspects of your wedding are the most important! (Venue, photographer, florals, Band/DJ, ect.)
  3. Catering will always cost a good amount of money. It just will.
  4. Be realistic with your ideas because each idea has a price tag!
  5. If you are an excel/chart woman, (good for you) that will help keep you organized!

I could probably go forever on budget because it is the base of your planning, and it can be stressful at times (we are still trying to figure out ours) but everything will come together in the end! It’s going to be frustrating at times, but again just take a deep breath and remember that you are planning your WEDDING! How exciting is that!?

Thank you for tuning in for another Wedding Wednesday, and I hope to see you next week!
