I pulled up to Katie and Joel’s cute Norfolk home at the break of dawn. We then headed to the waterfront for their sunrise anniversary session, and when we got to the beach we were greeted with beautiful light and a peaceful beach; I knew right away that this was going to be good!! We have rescheduled this session 3 times now, 2 times due to hurricanes, so when we both saw the sun, we could not be more ecstatic. It was definitely a little chilly, but with Katie’s positive attitude and Joel’s love for Katie, we made it work and their images are to die for! Their Norfolk Sunrise Anniversary session was one for the books.
I have known Katie for such a long time now, and watching her grow into this beautiful lady and build this wonderful life for herself gave me so much joy. Joel and Katie have been married for over 2 years now, and going from Virginia to Tennessee back to Virginia, these two have been through a lot in just a short amount of time. Traveling and moving is not easy and brings a lot of stress on a relationship, but their love and support for one another shows through every step of their marriage and being able to photograph this time in their lives was such an honor!
Even though I have known Katie, I love how I get to learn about a couple when I photograph them: their dynamic and the way that they interact really comes out with the ways that I pose and work! I also love that these two are each others perfect match and bring out the best in the other! Joel is calm and caring and so gentle and Katie is bubbly and fun! On top of that, Katie and Joel brought their adorable little puppy. We walked all over the beach shooting, and I honestly could have photographed their sweet family all morning!
Joel and Katie, thank you so much for being so incredible and for having me capture this sweet season in your lives! It was such an honor and I am so grateful that I got to spend the morning with you both! Enjoy a few of my favorites!
