“How do you advertise yourself?” This is a big question I get , and my most used answer is word of mouth. Having people refer you to others is not only free, but it’s reliable especially when it comes from someone else.
Want to know how I have booked almost half of my weddings for this year? My super secret powerful tool? ….
My fiancé is no doubt the reason I have at least half of my weddings. He is constantly promoting my photography business to others. If you even mention the word wedding, he’ll ask if you have a wedding photographer, and that is exactly what he did with Evan.
Evan and MJ play street hockey together, and MJ being MJ became buddies with him instantly. Evan mentioned that he was engaged and getting married, and MJ instantly pulled out my business card and gave it to him. The next day his fiance, Lindsey, emailed me and booked me to be her wedding photographer! WHAT!?
The craziness doesn’t stop there. The three of us met in Vienna, Virginia at Meadowlark Park, and unaware of a necessary reservation and fee we only had 45 minutes. Yes, 45 minutes sounds like a good amount of time, but it really isn’t. Parks, especially this one, are big and walking takes time, and a lot of couples need time to warm up to the camera and the poses. I was pretty nervous, but as soon as I took the first picture I just knew that time was not going to be an issue. These two are complete naturals in front of the camera. The next issue was were are we going to go after we get booted out of the park… Luckily, I have this thing where I find locations every time drive, and I saw this off the road section with beautiful light and we went with it.
Overall, Evan and Lindsey are not only naturals in front of the camera, but they are relaxed and patient and easy going… AKA my perfect couple.
I cannot wait to get to know these two more, and I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for their November wedding! Lindsey is going to be the most stunning bride. For now, I hope you enjoy their sweet engagement session!
