And just like that, another Monday has rolled around and a new week begins. You know what I dislike more than Monday’s… Sunday evenings, knowing that Monday is only a few short hours away. Can I get an AMEN!? My Sunday nights consist of do lists running through my head, trying to get blog posts done before the week starts (never happens), stop for an episode of Game of Thrones, and then head to bed continuing to think about what I need to do the rest of the week. GAH, the worst.

Yesterday was a little different though… This weekend I went home to the 757 for a wedding and an engagement session (the most eventful engagement session I have ever done… learn more tomorrow)! So naturally on Sunday, I get up get my things together and head back to Northern VA. First, I lost my driver’s license for about 30 minutes because of the eventful engagement session, and then after I found it I began my journey back home. If you have ever made the drive from Northern VA to VA Beach, you know where I’m about to go with this… Traffic. Traffic on 64; traffic on 95; traffic just because the people from Iowa don’t know how to drive. Just traffic every where. You couldn’t escape it, but, oh, did I try.

I put my GPS to avoid highways, and so, of course, there was the traffic due to stop lights, but I was fine with that. All was okay, until an Asian man in a white mercedes signaled for me to roll down my window.

I had a flat.

And I mean, it was flattttt. I am in Fredericksburg, VA. No where near MJ, no where near my parents, just in the middle with no incling of an idea of what to do next. I get a knock on my window from a few high schoolers from a local youth group asking if they can help in anyway. YES!! Not only did I have them help me, but the Firestone Tire workers came over and gave us a hand as well! I really lucked out.

Let me paint a picture for you though on just how “great” I looked… First off, when I drive anywhere I always look a hot mess. When I drive, I don’t dress to impress, I dress comfy and it’s how I roll. No one is going to see me, right? WRONG.

Yesterday, I wasn’t in my normal yoga pants and tshirt. I was in Boba Fett pajama bottoms and a Star Wars tshirt borrowed from my nerd (in the best way possible, MJ) of a fiance. Yes, I definitely looked like a nerd that just rolled out of bed (because I essentially had when I started the trip), but they helped me out anyway.

Now, that you have read the longest Mash Up Monday post, you have probably gathered that I hate traffic and that I am a hot mess. Yes, I am okay with that, but also know that there are still kind people in this world that are willing to help. I wish I could give all of them another big hug because I would still be at that gas station without them. I am so thankful for the kindness!

As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the past week!

  • Last week there were two amazing webinars from Justin and Mary and Amy and Jordan Photography!! When I finally figured out how to sync both my flashes, I literally got up and did a happy dance!! And I got to use them for the first time this weekend!! EEK!
  • Kellie, my sister, is happily in Hawaii! Poor thing is over there for 3 weeks studying the history of Hawaii for school… I am truly excited for her though! Hope you’re having fun, Kel!
  • If you missed last weeks, blogging spree I went on, go check it out. Posting 4 days a week is no joke though. It felt like college all over again!
  • If you are a photographer reading this post and you also blog, never doubt that no one is reading or looking at your stuff. I got an email last week from my college field hockey coach, and I cannot put into words how much that meant to me. I had no idea she even knew I did photography! So, always know you are reaching more people than you think!
  • MJ is the best human being. His kindness and love for me is so undeserved, but he does it anyway.

If you made it through this whole post, congrats, it was a long one!! Thank you for tuning in though, and keep a look out for a new engagement session and wedding on the blog this week!!

Here are a few sneak peeks!

xoxo
