How do you begin a post about the two people that raised the love of your life?

I’m going to start with thank you.

Thank you for who you are as individuals; thank you for who you are as a couple; thank you for who you are as parents. You have not only raised MJ to be the man he is today: loyal, kind, giving, stubborn (he successfully gets that from the two of you), and genuine, but you have also shown him what it takes to love one another through thick and thin, to be each others best friends when sometimes that isn’t easy. Thank you both for all that you do for MJ and over the past 2 years, me as well. He loves the two of you more than you could even imagine.

Now, about the session.

While we were in the Outer Banks this summer, I was taking portraits of anyone who wanted them because why not! When Jana asked if I could take some portraits of the two of them, I immediately said yes. Mark and Jana celebrated 30 years of marriage this year. 30 years (how awesome is that)!! I have to say this one of my favorite times with them because I got to see a side of them that I rarely get to see. These two were able to just be them, not hosts or cooks or planners or competitors, just them, and I love that I was able to capture those moments.

I’m going to end with this…

In less than a year, these two are going to become my parents in law. Mark and Jana are going to become my family, and I consider myself incredibly lucky. I am gaining two loving, hard working, caring, and selfless parents and typing this makes it so surreal, but so amazing all at the same time. This year is going to be the craziest year for MJ and I. We are becoming this unit, life partners, and I am so thankful that we both have parents that are supportive and loving and selfless to be examples for us as we begin this new life together.

Mark and Jana, thank you again for everything you do and for being the people you are.
